Life Lesson: Consider carefully to whom you sell your dogs
There’s story in the Philadelphia News today about Linda Brown, the breeder who sold a German shepard puppy to Vice President Joe Biden in December.
I’d heard some scuttlebutt about this at the time. Animal rights activists generally aren’t the best friends of puppy breeders. Apparently some felt that Biden should have used his position to send a message - help prevent the demise of defenseless puppies whose only crime was being born a stray or being purchased by boobs who decide after the fact that raising small dogs isn’t really their thing. PETA went so far as to run a commercial with this slogan: “Buy one, get one killed.”
Brown alleges that the sale of one of her dogs to Joe Biden has caused her to rack up $4,000 in legal fees in order to fight the charges lodged against her after unannounced visits by state dog warden.
The Obamas are still searching for their ideal canine companion but Brown is advising her fellow breeders to pull the shades if the motor pool stops at their door.
“It’s been horrific since December,” she said.
